Table Tennis celebrate 10 years

We couldn’t believe it, but the Table Tennis Group has been going almost continuously for 10 years, having started on 1st April 2016; it was only interrupted by the Covid outbreak. Several of the early members are still playing today – Shelley, Colin L, Jackie, Colin T and Shirley (although currently on an enforced “time out”). Others have joined along the way, many still playing and having fun, as well as increasing skill (of course!). My thanks to all who’ve played a part in our success and especially to those who help set the room up at the start, and to Pat for holding the fort when I’m not available and for arranging not only this celebration at The Black Horse in Market Bosworth, but our regular Christmas meals.
Here’s to the next 10 years! Roger

BRIDGE GROUP
On 20 January Joan Llewellyn one of our U3A members celebrates her 100th birthday. She plays bridge at our WLu3a bridge group every week without fail and is a great player as well as being extremely sociable and often organizing us for a Christmas or other celebratory meal. It simply wouldn’t be the same without Joan.
Last Thursday we had a celebration at our Bridge morning at The Gate Hangs Well, Carlton in between hands and the photo shows Joan being presented with a cake and blowing out the candles and a present made by the publican Dawn while in the middle of a bridge hand. The full celebration will be next Tuesday but the WLU3A Bridge Group would like to wish Joan a very Happy 100th Birthday on her special day, and lots more bridge sessions to come! What an inspirational member!
